How to Plan your First Race: Step-by-Step Guide
So, you want to plan a race. Maybe you want to create a fun, fitness based day for your community. Maybe you want to fundraise for a particular cause, or maybe you want to pay tribute to someone who is no longer with us, but all the roads lead to one thing: you need to organize a race, and you (likely!) have no idea how to do it.
Over the next few weeks, we are going to be breaking down each of the important steps for putting an event together. You’ve got your work cut out for you; we want to say that from the get-go. But, if you’re willing to put in the time, do some research, and just trust us, you are going to have a successful and a memorable event.
We will be going through obvious things like designing your course, or basic timelines, but we will also cover some topics you might not think of, like coordinating volunteers or how many porta-potties you’ll need (oh yeah, we go there too). So, keep your eyes open for a comprehensive guide coming atcha! Once we finish the whole series, we will be putting together one big post with multiple links to helpful articles. We will call that the “mecca.”
Happy race planning!
